This is funny. My teen rises early for swim practice. Comes back home to do her summer workbook and chores. What does she do after this? She takes a nap. I think she might be channeling her inner 3-year-old.

Just days after summer break started, my 13 year old stayed up until dawn one day. We had and appointment that day for 1:45 and I barely got him up in time.

I don't know how old yiour child is. But when I was about 14, during the summer, I was sleeping all the time. I was in summer school, and I would come home at noon from school, sleep until dinner, wake up and eat dinner, and go back to bed until the next morning, when I got up to go to summer school. Turns out I had iron deficiency anemia. Also, even w/o anemia, I remember being absolutely ravenously hungry when I got out of school, as a teen. Coudl eat a couple sandwiches and be thinking, OK, where's the food, really?? Growing kids . . .

Yes, I think this is perfectly normal. Swimming is so physically challenging and refreshing too. You get such a nice deep sleep after that kind of healthy work-out. Good for her she needs it. She's like my golden when he do his swims he was so relaxed the water was so therapeutic and went into a deep snooze until the afternoon, after that he was a relaxed and happy boy!

Yes... I tried an experiment on how late my daughter would sleep and my middle daughter wins the latest prize at 1:30 p.m.! She probably went to bed around 1 a.m. latest. Sound asleep, I finally woke her up but really wondered if she would sleep 24 hours if I let her. She's 16. Now, my 18 year old is up and ready by 8 every morning. She said she finally figured out if you sleep your day away, you don't have time to do any fun stuff. I really wonder what has gotten into her... she even unloaded our dishwasher the other day, without any prompting, just to be nice!!!
