All my kids are now teenagers and i have MANY fond memories of them- stored in boxes, bins, envelops, shelves, half filled albums..... I would love to organize all the photos I have but do not know where or how to start. Every time i try it gets overwhelming and they end up tossed back into boxes and such. Any tips would be great.

I would start with making a box for each kid and then start sorting. Then start making a big memory book with pics and whatever else you want. Try to put all pics on a disc by scanning them into your computer so they won't ever fade or get lost again. ~Good luck.

I'm running into the same problem, bmarie! And I can't decide which is better... to put the photos inside shoebox-like storage (I've seen photo-safe boxes at JoAnns, Michaels Craft Stores, etc.) or to try to organize it and then put it in an album.
Any Momsters out there have favorite organizational products?
PS- Good idea to make digital copies of all photos, Cutemommy76. That's next on my agenda :)

I, too, am organizationally challenged. I try but to no avail. Lol! My family has always put photos in shoe boxes. I tried to be different and do albums for each of my kids. Only one got kinda completed. The other one - I have no idea where it went. Every time i open a drawer or closet or anything, I find a strsy photo. I seriously need help too.

A million years ago I got all the photos together in one box and sort of organized by years but that's as far as I got. I feel terrible because the guys would like to look at them, but it's such a mess, even partially organized, that they're intimidated. We should find some organizing mavens and invite them on Momster to help!

I have 5 kids and no time to myself...but love to take pics of my kids so I always have a reminder of those very great memories. With no time to do anything with the pics I too feel overwhelmed when I open my Hope chest full of pics. I have found sorting by child or by year and then just beginning at the beggining. Decide if you want to just use boxes to sort...fill picture albums...or try scrapbooking(its really fun although time consuming) Start with only a handful of pictures so your not so overwhelmed and only do it for a short time or untill your tired of doing it...remember they aren't going anywhere and you can always come back to them. Take the time to enjoy them as you go through them...and it is a very good idea to scan them to a computer then onto a storage device...you never know what could happen...best to have backups. Good luck in your quest!! :)
