My husband(kids stepdad) and I think teens attend way too many proms. It sometimes starts when they are in 9th grade. If they go every year with bf/gf or a friend then that's 4 or more proms they could attend in their high school years. How about teens that are out of school and go to a HS prom? Now you are talking even more. And the cost of prom esp for girls is getting very expensive. Anyone else share my thoughts/opinions?

i agree with you.Prom is initially intended for those who are leaving the school and its like a good bye party. i think there should be restrictions on who goes, theyre only allowed to go once and if youve already graduated you shouldnt be allowed to attend.

That's the way I always saw it as well, my 13yr old's school throws them because the wind blew in a different direction it seems!!

they should only be allowed to go to there junior and senior prom. Going younger than that is just too young.

I went as a sophomore in high school, and I regret it. I went with some senior friend of mine, simply because I was flattered to be asked. But I hardly knew anyone there, and I felt awkward and out of place. I was too young as a sophomore, so I can't imagine how I would have felt as a freshman. It was much more fun and meaningful when I went again as a senior with my closest buddies--it was a final goodbye, one last celebration.
