gone back to school

I just recently started back to college to finish my RN degree. I have a high school freshman and sophmore at home who think it is very cool that I have gone back to school. They do not like the fact that i am not at their disposal all the time! My husband is being extremely supportive. Financially it is hard. But we know it is worth it.

Are there any other moms out there that would like to discuss how to get through college? What struggles do you have? Do you have any funny stories?

Hi! I am mom to 2 kids, age 20 and 10, and I'm planning to go back to school in a year to get my Ph.D. I'm really worried about not being available to my daughter (my son is in college) when I'm working and going to school at the same time. I already feel like I don't have enough time for her, and when I return to school she'll be 12--a vulnerable and difficult age. So I would love to connect with other moms who are in school and find out how you do it!

I am in college for the first time, after being a stay-at-home mom for the past 20 years. My oldest is a college sophmore, I have one in high school and one in 5th grade. I have finally finished 2 years of pre-requisite courses and now I'm applying to the ASN nursing program that will begin this Fall. It is both exciting and scary at the same time. I have really enjoyed the adult interaction and boost to my self-esteem after proving to myself and others that I can do this and I can do it well. I just take one day at a time and give my worries to God. I know He will see me through this!

just call me crazy - i also have applied for the ASN program, however i did not get in for Fall 2010 due to my incoming GPA. Because I failed a college algebra class in 1991 my incoming GPA  is 2.59. the minimum GPA to be CONSIDERED  for the ASN this fall was a 2.75, however by the time they fill all the slots they are usually only down to a GPA of 3 something. Let me know where you are in your application process.

it took me 14 years to finish my bachelor's degree ( i was a single mom for 8 of them) but the feeling of accomplishment makes it all worth it in the end. after a year off, i'm now about to start a masters program. the way i got through it? scheduling. i scheduled everything....seriously! eating, playing with my son, studying, laundry...i had to schedule it if i was going to get it done. good luck!!
